Dinosaur Rampage Review & Gameplay Guide

I just spent the last few hours playing Dinosaur Rampage and I've got some mixed feelings about it. On one hand, who doesn't love the idea of running around as a giant T-Rex, smashing buildings and eating people? It sounds like a blast, and at first, it is. The game's intro is super cool, with a rad cinematic sequence showing the dinosaur's escape from some kind of lab or whatever. The graphics are pretty sweet too, with detailed environments and some really nice lighting effects.

But as I started playing, I realized that the gameplay is pretty shallow. You basically just run around and smash stuff, which gets old after a while. I mean, I know that's the point of the game and all, but I was hoping for a bit more depth. Maybe some puzzles or a storyline to follow, but nope. It's just smash, eat, repeat. The controls are also a bit wonky, especially when you're trying to climb up buildings or navigate through tight spaces. I found myself getting stuck on random objects or falling off cliffs because the dinosaur's collision detection is a bit off.

Despite the lack of depth, the game is still pretty fun, especially when you're in the middle of a rampage. The sound effects are great, with the T-Rex's roar sounding super menacing and the screams of the people running away are pretty funny. The game also has a pretty cool "rage" system, where you can build up your dinosaur's fury by eating people and smashing things, and then unleash a powerful blast of energy that destroys everything in its path. It's pretty satisfying, but it's not enough to carry the whole game.

One thing that really annoyed me is the lack of variety in the environments. You're basically just running around the same city streets over and over, with the same buildings and the same trees. I know it's a budget game and all, but come on, couldn't they have at least added a few different areas to explore? A forest or a beach or something? It gets pretty boring looking at the same old skyscrapers all the time. The game also has some pretty bad framerate issues, especially when there's a lot of destruction happening on screen. It's not game-breaking or anything, but it's definitely noticeable.

I'm not gonna lie, I did have some fun playing Dinosaur Rampage. It's a great game to play when you're just looking for something mindless to do, and the destruction can be pretty cathartic. But if you're looking for a game with some real substance, you might want to look elsewhere. The game's pretty short too, I beat it in like 4 hours, and there's not much replay value aside from trying to get a higher score on the leaderboards. Overall, I'd say Dinosaur Rampage is an okay game, but it's not something I'd recommend to everyone.

Overall, I'd give Dinosaur Rampage like 6 out of 10 or something. It's a fun, but shallow game that's great for a quick play session, but it's not something you'll be coming back to again and again. If you're a fan of destruction games or just love dinosaurs, you might get a kick out of it, but for everyone else, there are probably better options out there. I'm gonna go play something else now, maybe a game with a bit more depth, but hey, at least I got to smash some stuff as a T-Rex, right?
